2015 • ARIE • A BOY ROLLING AROUND WITH MUD

Arie is a big big boy. Very big. Much bigger than most of his friends. Arie is 201 cm big.

Born into a Dutch family living in Luxembourg, he spent his teenage years in the German-speaking part of Belgium before settling in Liège. The result: he speaks Dutch, Luxembourgeois, German, French, and English fluently.

Trained as an architect, Arie eventually left the profession and moved to Amsterdam to pursue a master's degree in contemporary art. Something shifted: he wanted to create conceptual work rather than built structures.

Arie is a big fan of the Gabber movement. As he puts it: "You cannot become a gabber when you decide it, because it's a complete and complex lifestyle."
